I've rarely had to use more than wet-to-dry on these to get a good granulation bed. If you place large loop sutures and tie them in with 5mm bandage tape you only have to charge for a few swabs and can re-use a 500ml bag of saline to soak the deeper ones in. They work wonders and are pretty cheap!

Once you get a good granulation bed it's harder to maintain and allow epithelialisation without appropriate dressings. Or you'll have to do a delayed primary closure depending on the size of the deficit(s). That's when it gets expensive.

RE: Foam wound dressing

Maybe this is one case that should be crowd funded on Facebook.

RE: Foam wound dressing
Large bill which the dogs owners should be paying
We buy Renofoam dressings and Cutimed gel instead of these brands (from IMS, rather than the wholesaler I believe)
nasty necrotic wounds
Other thoughts - if nasty and necrotic still, do you need some more debridement: wet-to-dry still works well, or even surgical debridement? I find the foam/hydrogels good one you've got granulation tissue forming. Also do like Granuflex at that stage.

RE: Foam wound dressing

Dry swabs and runny honey from Tesco.
