I had someone phone up, interested in the job here. Talked about 'I am interested in the job, should I send my CV? Of course I said yes.

Information and CV arrived but from a locum agency. I had not been speaking to the vet after all but it was the agency pretending to be the vet.

I have to say I was extremely unimpressed!

As long as it is a statement of fact and it is fair I think you should. A blog would also be good reading.

We need more professionalism within this industry. Without the gift of open feedback these behaviours are unlikely to change.

I am currently in the job recruitment market and I have experienced every trick listed above. The latest one is a practice the other end of the country checking my locuming availability - I am not locuming and have never applied to do locuming. The practice has supplied me with the name of the agency that supplied my CV without my consent so I will take this further, though likely to no avail. Should I name and shame them here?

Unfortunately, because I am currently job hunting I need to be visible on places like LinkedIn and VetClick.

I am thinking about writing my experiences in a blog as until the past year, I have felt very under prepared for job hunting!

They said to me they were reviewing the job adds and fixing the "mistake".

Their add for my practice is gone. You should apply to yours! I applied to my own practice through them . They tried to capture my c.v. On the back of it within 60 seconds.....

Made me laugh this one, dropping the Kind but still saying regards, do you think it will be noticed.

I'm getting bombarded by an agency at the moment. Were fine last year but a new broom has arrived. A good agency will list jobs, not this one. Every job is a unique opportunity, fantastic practice.... Every job has an individual E Mail. I'd had enough last week so I E mailed back with 'less is more' and 'remember RIG'. To another job, I replied 'if it was so fantastic why are they always advertising.' I pleaded that they use my online diary. There's been a lull of 4 days, now today guess what....back again...

I've had both of these methods used on me at work. And on both occasions I have told them how unprofessional they are contacting me at my place of employment and they must take me off their database. One of them ignored it all and somehow got my email address ans has recently emailed me. You know how it is. There you are just sitting at your desk when, whoops, you've accidentally transcribed a job advert and uploaded it, with appropriate formatting, tags and meta-data, to your website. It's the sort of accident that could happen to anyone.

I have a built in filter so when I get these calls they can be filtered out.

"Its Peter here, could i just have a word with Robert. No its not a sales call!"

Always is of course but if "Peter" knew me he would know that "Robert" is a red rag to a bull!

They have even started to phone out of hours!!

Go forth and multiply springs to mind!

Bloody hell, that's outrageous. And I don't understand how they think it could work. If I got a message under false pretences like that, I would tell them (in language I wouldn't want my daughter to overhear) where to go.

Yes but if you copied and pasted it you could and Arlo is the XXXest man on the planet etc. etc.

I just copied and pasted it from your previous post Arlo and added the bit on the bottom [could have been nasty]

Dunno how you can stop it though, unless you can put some sort of secret code on your ad which can be identified; sort of invisible trademark/copyright??

Very well said but most employees do not know this. also, many practices out of frustration of finding staff do tend to use them. i think they will continue to flourish in as much as vets and nurses remain in short supply.

If we all agree not to use recruitment agencies, then perhaps they might be starved out of existence.

They don't add anything in the vet sector, and extract disproportionate fees.

Employers should use internet adverts eg. this site, vetclick, vet times etc

Employees should use the above, and also make direct approach to practices of geographic interest to them.

Employees should realise that the £5000 finders fee that recruitment agencies try and charge, will just eat into the salary that they hope to be paid.

So don't use them.

If I were in your position I would be very annoyed by this. I might be even more annoyed if I were a potential candidate who had seen their advert and applied for the job, and then found out that the job didn't exist.

I'm not absolutely sure. Bit of a grey area, I suspect. Think it would be a breach of VS copyright if content was reproduced on another website without attribution. But last time I checked, I would need to demonstrate financial loss to make any kind of legal enforcement worth pursuing.

I have just received a reply after asking for reimbursement of our advertising costs.

On the -ve. They upset our good associate (allbeit briefly). I am sure they would have taken a finders fee from us had my new vet applied to their add. They advertised a job without our consent.

On the +ve. They did apologise at an early point. They also said that this was a "system error" if we are to believe this. Our new vet applied to Arlos advert.

They state theat "In our opinion, we have not done anything wrong"

The advert was on https://www.vetprorecruitment.co.uk

If you own a practice I would recommend that you chek that they are not advertising for you too.
