NOT an admonishment, George, I suppose it's just that I so often hear the other side - ie how people feel when their idea / plan / initiative / nose gets picked apart online - quite soul-destroying (especially when the written word is devoid of facial expression).

Not saying you picked it apart, or that anyone had their soul destroyed here, or even that anyone should be above criticism. I just think one needs to be sensitive to the impact of written public criticism and kind of overdo the praise, if it's due, to compensate.

I remain, sir, your most obedient, grovelling and humble servant, for eternity.

I think that's quite possible, but one also has to think about the tone appropriate for a communication coming from a regulatory / representative body. In other words, the risk is that if it sounds too colloquial or informal, then it may not sound authoritative enough.

RE: BVA RCVS Poster Campaign

Without disrespecting the general public, is it possible that using colloquial words would attract better the attention of those who otherwise would dismiss the poster?
Whilst praiseworthy, I wonder if anyone else experienced a shudder of "Oh Dear"-yness creep across their shoulders?
Sucks-teeth-ever-so-slightly!

What i mean is that it is almost an inevitability that everyone who looks at something like this will have their own opinion about how it could be done differently. But isn't the more important thing here that the RCVS/BVA are doing something to try and drive unregistered owners into practice ... something laudable which needs to be encouraged!

Yeah, maybe 'check' sounds a bit less substantial than an assessment, but equally you could argue it also appears a little less daunting for a prospective client?? Is it half-a-dozen of one and six of the other? I wonder.

Endorsing local services, yeah, I can see how that could cause difficulties. But remember this is something designed to make people think about signing up at a practice. What I mean is that you don't have to recommend local services, and I doubt anyone is going to come to you and say: "Look 'ere Dr Cooper, this thing I saw on facebook said you would recommend a local groomer, I DEMAND you do that!"

And pleading? ... I was thinking about that. Quite subjective really - Pets need vets doesn't actually sound pleading to me, more a statement of fact.

I dunno, I just think maybe given that:
Whilst praiseworthy

I really do realise that blood sweat and tears have gone into this
May be better to lean more in the direction of praising on this occasion!
