Hold your breath all you budding entrepreneurs, remember the banks' buying all the estate agents and remember what happened [and estate agents' clients have 0.0001% of the loyalty of pet owners....]

Vets are lucky in that "the vet, who is lovely, knows your puppy, and the dog remembers" ......

Be interesting to see how the vet climate is in, what, five years.

Usually you can only spay a cat once....

We don't stock their products because owners can buy them on-line for less than we pay. Not convinced that VetPlus are overly bothered by this fact.

What they do rely on is the vet making the recommendation and the client following it up with a purchase either at the practice or on-line.

IVC today with their own brand, CVS tomorrow etc, etc.

These groups are big enough to bully and that is what they are likely to do IMO!

They are not POM-V's, so why the fuss?

1) M'sOP could buy them anywhere

2) Any MRCVS could advise a client to source elsewhere if they so wished

Not sure I would bother creating waves over the brand of neutraceuticals or even the brand of meloxicam! If owners are not happy with the alternative then they know how to use Google. The practice accountants lose out completely then!

I agree up to a point, but any MRCVS has the freedom to prescribe which ever drug they wish. If a practice cannot or will not order it in, a written script can be provided.

I wouldn't bother creating waves over the brand of nutraceuticals or even the brand of meloxicam either. One nutraceutical is as useless as another.

If corporate buyers are paying well over the odds or supporting the start-up of practices in 'over-vetted' places then they must be expecting a suitable return.

If the value is in growth rather than profit then it will end with collapse.

I was staggered to hear that Spotify is expecting to sell for £20b yet has never made a profit! Where is the sense in modern economics?

Absolutely. But surely it is an argument for the individual vet practices to have with IVC, not the supplier!

We would happily stock more VetPlus products except they can be bought on-line cheaper than we can buy them!

I am sceptical about many of the neutraceutical claims but owners are not! If they are going to buy them anyway then they should be guided to the ones that are better produced.

Interesting to see CVS share price has dropped. Perhaps some common sense is going to occur within the profession.

Thirty years ago the estate agents were being bought up by chains, paying well over the odds. That did not end well for them did it?

Er, I rather think the point of interest is that IVC practices are supposed to be autonomous, you're the vet, you make the choice, that sort of stuff, but here they are ordering their practices not to let the Vetplus rep through the door, to use the IVC own-brand exclusively and so on.

I don't use any "nutriceuticals" as far as I know, but I reckon Vetplus show more quality and are more ethical and "environmentally responsible" than other manufacturers.

Ridiculous. If they had chosen VetPlus as their sole supplier, would they still be shouting about lack of client choice?
