Thanks JW (wasn't he the Louisiana sheriff in Live and Let Die?). I trust that the RCVS are not "deferring to the ICO" but actually helping the ICO shape advice to vets. Animals ain't people and have no possesive rights, so purely clinical information should be outwith the GDPR. Perhaps the yellow forms will need to be changed to remove the clients details

'Tis but one small part of what GDPR might cover and the RCVS is very clear that it will be deferring to the ICO as the proper Regulator for GDPR. There are six legal bases (horrible plural) where information may be disclosed one of which is with consent and another might be argued as being a public interest reason, so the idea is that you use a public interest argument , for instance, but make it clear there is an overarching GDPR legal basis for a decision to disclose e.g. SARSS to a third party, like a drug company and that is in your Privacy Policy.

Well it goes something like this

The GDPR requires making sure any sub-contractor is subject to a written agreement outlining their responsibilities and how they will ensure the security of the personal information shared with them.

It might make sense to have your own Privacy Policy to articulate how you understand your responsibilities in respect of clients and colleagues. You might hold contact numbers or home addresses for client practices and their staff for instance in your invoicing/accounting database.

Meaning?

Locummming is an interesting job, you see/hear all sorts of things. Nothing has changed has it? It's much like client confidentiality, you extend this to the practice you have just been in.
