I was told that clean fingernails, regular use of a toothbrush and polished shoes also help.

On the flipside, it dawned on me only when I was completely blinded by something or other how there is an entire cosmetic/fashion/foundation garment industry bent on disguising, errr, "blemishes"

Could just be a lack of men?

My Niece is first year at Edinburgh, where only 12 of 120, 10%, of her year are men. She hasn't specified but I assume most of the remainder are women (PC BS to account for trans-genders, a-genders, intersexes, eunuchs, hermaphrodites, pseudo-hermaphrodites, shirt lifters, and lesbians.)

Erm, I think that's an oversimplification. I'd say lack of heterosexual men on he vet course lead to many single girls. If you are a bloke into girls and you left vet college single there is something badly wrong with you. I'm under no illusion I'm somewhat punching above my weight (met my wife during freshers, 17 years this year).

Someone's been watching too much Simon Sinek

Anecdotally the reason a large proportion of new grads are single is because they have either been very focused on studies (and never got into a relationship), or separated due to a desire to work in different locations of the UK/the world.

The swiping isn't exactly how you form the relationship, that's a vehicle to actually meeting people (especially if you have no time do so out of work). I've never actually used online dating, so maybe that's the problem (or it's just me...lol). Though I was asked out for dinner once, but unfortunately I didn't have a finish before 8pm for 12 days....that swiftly put the poor lass off
