Having a hobby that tales you out the house is essential I think.
Interesting quote this one

My father just farmed and he retired 10 years ago. He doesn't go anywhere, watches daytime TV and really misses it.

I take many, many 60 year old cyclists on tour. I have another this year maybe 75 and others even older. By having a hobby and an outlet they have something to take them through and beyond retirement.

One friend recently has followed a few others from the past, ( in retiring to pursue other things) he's looked at his life and decided to quit whilst he's still fit enough and enjoy his past time and will be joining me in 2019 on a trip from Bangkok to Saigon.

Our 20 year son fresh from University Cycling hooked up his Cannonade to the turbotrainer and really went for it. Result a pile of rubber dust where he'd cooked the back tyre and stripped it almost to the canvas underneath. You can buy a turbo trainer tyre but then you need a spare wheel as well.

Tend to agree with Martin, I'd rather be thumb screwed than use these things, but then again I quite like cycling at night and don't mind the rain, but hate head winds
