Well aksherely - I think it's rather an improvement.

I read the editorial in the latest edition and it seemed to make sense and justify the changes.

Traditionally the Vet Rec has been a pretty dull journal, full of irrelevant and obscure articles on diseases of Mongolian squirrels or whatever - and generally consigned to the bin after a brief look at the obits and ads.

Anything to make it more interesting and attractive....

Typeface more suited to modern eyes not used to reading with concentration, yes. The editor boasts of reducing the word count, as if this were a good thing: apparently it makes one write more carefully and concisely. Hmm. Should one not be writing carefully and concisely anyway?

They have embraced the modern publishing fashion of decorating everything with completely pointless stock pictures; and the fashion for irritatingly breaking up the text with large-face random "quotes" (often actually mis-quotes) stuck in just anywhere.

Maybe they should complete the process and head the front cover "Vet Rec" which would be quite appropriate if you think of homonyms.

RE: The super soaraway new Vet Rec

Marie (head nurse) noticed it looked cheap and nasty but neither of us had picked up on the 'Vet Record' bit.
