We have an amazing team now (an have had some good people work for us) but also a couple of people who were pretty awful. I'd hope to get positive reviews from current staff (and would honestly be sad to see any of them go), but that's not universal. I don't think just because someone left under a bit of a cloud makes us a bad practice?
Absolutely agree, of course it doesn't make you a bad practice when things just don't work out, as they sometimes don't.

But this system is a) optional and b) nobody is expecting you to display the name of someone who is leaving under a cloud! The reality is that everyone knows that an advertiser is going to display the name of someone who likes working there. It still allows (I think) potential applicants to get a better feel than they will from just reading the hyperbole in the advert!

Plus, if you display a number of names, that itself says something pretty positive.

We tried deploying last night and hit an error. Going for lift off again this morning at some stage, I think.

RE: New job section feature ...
I think any system of making ads more transparent and with access to more sources of inside information would be a good idea and would only be feared by the guilty.
At the same time, and somewhat belatedly, we have improved the site search function on mobile devices (it was actually invisible on mobile devices before; now it will be a main menu item).

RE: New job section feature ...
Second, I've lost count of the number of times people have said: every advert says 'happy working team', only to find that in reality everyone is at each other with carving knives.
It has always been like that. Ads have been masterpieces of creative self delusion for the forty years I have been been about. My second job was advertised as a happy place and the partners were in the courts a few months later and the staff were largely appalling. The third job was also the same with a partnership breakdown within months. You never learn. Shouldn't have left the first job.

Hi Laurence, no, we have not yet deployed it! The developers have shown me what it looks like on the testing server, so I think it is very nearly ready to go.

You will be able to use it retrospectively, so you can either hold fire, or add the names afterwards. Not had much joy with that one, it seems to be infested with recruitment agencies and consultants. I think the SPVS survey is very accurate, I do think its going to have a knock on effect with the attrition rate of vet loss in larger practices who cannot find replacements and then make the incumbents spread the load. It will also stifle growth and re-investment. Probably accelerate the rate of corporate take overs and reduce practice values. The problem is acute regional and Brexit related, I don't think feminisation is a new significant factor, that has been going on now for decades. I also don't think OOH is a problem if new grads are adequately supported. We have also had success grooming Students and approaching universities.

JOB VACANCY FOR VETERINARIAN

Job description
Ambitious person required to get involved in all aspects of practice growth and development. Genuine prospects of progression in Privately owned practice with 1st opinion and some referral work . Orthopaedics Phaco (intraocular surgery) Spinal work, CT scanner, laproscopy . We dont get involved in deals , health care programmes , and selling things people do not really want or need. We know that vets are all different and that they are clinicians 1st 2nd and 3rd.We have always believed that if your good at what you do and you do it well the money takes care of itself. So if your fed up with vetsrus or too much of the wrong kind of over management and you want to progess on to certificate or advanced practitioner level in a friendly helpful environment this maybe worth a second look. OOH work is important to us ,it sends out a message about the level of committment of the practice and those that work in it. We expect everyone to do their share ,that includes the owner and senior partner. That is because we have always believed you cannot expect anyone to do anything your not prepared to do yourself. Salaries proportional to experierience ,this may suit someone who is in the middle of a bad first job experience and wants to jump ship to the kind of practice they imagined as a student.
