[/quote]Interesting idea but the problem with this is that my gconnect ISP doesn't have the facility to forward mail other than manually for individual emails. Anyway I have an existing AOL address for private mail and we've set up a practice one with the practice title as the domain name so its better and we've BCC'd all contacts to advise them of the change now so there's no going back.

The best solution I have found to that one is to route mail via a gmail account, and let it handle all the spam, which it does very well.

To do this, you set up a gmail account with an arbitrary email address (doesn't matter, because you won't be using the email address provided by google). Then have your normal email forward all email to your google account, and tell your google account to use an alias (which is your real email address).

So to the outside world, it looks as if you are still using your normal email address, but in fact, google is handling it all.

I don't think the arrival of a few emails from Arlo is too onerous but I have to admit I don't think I have them arriving automatically either!

Compared to all those ladies looking for love (no more blue tablet adverts for some reason!) and dodgy invoices , VetSurgeon is not a big problem!

Yes, this is something I need to address ...

When you register, you are automatically subscribed. Thereafter, if you unsubscribe, you are permanently unsubscribed. There isn't a mechanism for re-subscribing, because we run two systems which are not currently fully integrated.

In the past, I have contacted a few members who have unsubscribed, to get feedback as to why, and as many times as not, they've said they didn't mean to, just had fiddly thumbs on an iphone or something.

Anyway, I shall now look at a way of making it easy to resubscribe.

Meantime, Martin Atkinson - have you updated your email address in your account settings here on the site. I THINK (stress think) that if you have done that, it will push the new email address to our newsletter system and you should start getting them again. But I will make sure ...

Ooh err...my problem is that I don't receive the aforementioned emails, how to I subscribe in - I have ticked the email boxes and still don't get the newsletter. Incidentally, I have just this minute changed my email address as I was getting so much spam to the old one but this shouldn't make any difference.

I think it is mainly the company stuff and maybe the monthly newsletter. I'll try the unsubscribe button sorry! My interest in Vetsurgeon has narrowed down to mainly the clinical stuff.

Which emails are you talking about, when you say news about the forum?

There are two types of email - ones I send:

a) Monthly newsletter which gives a summary of the most widely read veterinary news, the most popular forum discussions and the featured new job opportunities.
b) Announcements from veterinary companies which I screen to make sure that they qualify as 'news' of some sort (ie new product, new license, new piece of research, special offer etc).

Secondly, ones the system sends out, when you are subscribed (ie to a forum thread).

If you're talking about the former, I'm obviously sad when people unsubscribe, as it suggests that I'm not doing a very good job. But if you want to, just press the unsubscribe button at the foot of the email. You won't hear from me again - either the company announcements or the monthly newsletter.

If the latter, I think you can unsubscribe from those at the foot of each email too, or change your subscription settings on the site.
