For the scanner we'd like general purpose small animal for chests and abdomens and some basic measuring tools (e.g. M mode LV measurements). We also have the Mindray imec8 and are happy with this too!

RE: New equipment recommendations

Thanks for that Martin. I'm going to the London Vet Show and will have a look there. I would value any further insight from your demo.

RE: New equipment recommendations

There's a relatively recent thread on capnographs which I started. In the end we got a the Mindray IMEC 8 and apart from poor battery life - it doesn't even last a light operating session, the nurses like it which is the most important thing. There are stories of bits breaking/not lasting long but ours has been fine so far. There may be better/sturdier units out there for busy operating theatres in multi-man practices but for the amount we use it I wouldn't pay more.

We're having a demo of some ultrasound units by Celtic SMR next month so I may report back on those but since our venerable ex-NHS machine died a few years ago we have been ultrasoundless!

RE: New equipment recommendations

Thanks Rob and Sarah!

RE: New equipment recommendations
I don't know much about multi parameter monitors, I know that capnography was one of the must haves!
Depends on your budget. I rate our Surgivet Advisor over our Mindray imec8, but could buy two of the latter for one of the former. Do you want anaesthetic gases too? If budget stretches or your happy 2nd hand then a Datex Ohmeda S5?

RE: New equipment recommendations

Not currently in practice, but I used to love the Cardell Touch. It was quite straightforward to set up and use. Nice clear screen readings. Quite intuitive to use. Its design meant you couldn't plug anything in in the wrong place. Visual as well as audible alarm system. It wasn't me that bought it though, so I have no perspective on value for money, but if I was setting up in practice and I could afford one, I would.
