Neil, the same error was causing wrong entries to get deleted, so I am afraid you will need to re-enter your Westmoor entry.

Hmm - well largely we wanted to split the stuff between those things that are required for membership (which are under account settings), and those things which are optional (all the stuff on your profile page). But will have a think. Maybe as simple as moving the pencil closer to the avatar to make it clearer.

Malcolm, thank you so much, that's a really good example of how good (I think) a full profile can look.

I've added FRCVS and upgraded you. I see there's a duplicate entry under experience, but there's a glitch there which I thought we'd fixed, which is preventing me from deleting it. Will get that fixed asap.

Can I ask EVERYONE to take a look at your new profile section, and complete at least some of it.

To do that, click 'My Account' on the top navigation, now at the far right (Neil Wheadon - is that OK for you now? ). Then click 'View My Profile' and edit on the page.

When you first arrive at your profile it looks a bit dull if it's empty. But here's one I prepared earlier https://www.vetsurgeon.org/members/editor/ (my education and qualifications are obviously false; just there temporarily for the purposes of illustration).

In particular, your university, qualifications and interests. But the more you add, the better, because it really does make SUCH a big difference to be able to read a post and have the context of a little bit of background about the author.

Referral practitioners, locums and anyone in the market for a job ... I hope you in particular will like the new format, and the way it allows you to present yourself in what I hope you'll think is a very professional format. I hope you'll spend some time doing a really good profile, especially now all the job adverts have a new feature whereby you can send a link to your profile to the advertiser (a feature we'll be adding elsewhere in due course).

Likewise, there's a link from the VetSurgeon Locum map to locums' profiles, so really worthwhile for locums to make sure their profile is looking good, and gives practices the info they need. BTW, there is now an option to display your telephone number in your profile, switched off by default, but it's there for anyone who wants to make themselves easier to contact offline.

A couple of things for anyone who already had a profile:

a) You might like to reupload your photo / avatar, as they are now displayed larger than before, and anything you have already uploaded will now look a bit pixelated in your profile. We now zoom and crop images, so if you want everything in the picture, upload a square image. Ideally bigger than 150px by 150px.

b) If you already had an 'about' in your profile, that's been carried across. But you might want to edit it to make it shorter, if there was content in it that you can now enter in the new 'Experience', 'Qualifications', 'Education', and 'Interests' sections.

Any feedback much appreciated. Lot of blood sweat and tears went into it, so I hope you like it. And if anyone else sees any missing qualifications or interests, let me know!

RE: VetSurgeon Profiles
I still can't be an "MAVetMB" though.
Incidentally, everyone profile photos are bigger, but we have yet to make a small tweak to the system to make sure they resize correctly (at the mo, they are saving small then enlarging, which leads to poor quality.
Neil Wheadon not sure I understand - on VetSurgeon, you can set the qualification date to be whatever you want!

This morning's update:

Malcolm Ness and Claudia Niehoegen

Yes, European and other qualifications ARE there, but so far only UK ones are visible on iPad (if you don't believe me, take a look at my profile, where I have suddenly become rather well qualified, a temporary thing just to demonstrate: https://www.vetsurgeon.org/members/editor/). We'll have it working on iPad shortly.

We also have some layout and navigation changes to make, and a couple of other pretty minor things to do, should be ready in a few hours.

Oh, and Claudia, the system setting has always just allowed for US English, it's a non-option that we can expand in the future when we want to add other languages.
