It is not the usual animal nutters and hoarders that all practices have on their books; it is those who are weak and vulnerable, for whatever reason, and who are looking for hope that just isn't there, that are exploited by homeopathy.

I found that funny too.

The old farmer neighbour when I was growing used to say it was addictive. "Once you start giving that to any tractor, they will never start without it ever again"

For anyone that doesn't know, it was/is an ether based aerosol spray that smelt like victory v's. It was great

I don't see any hypocrisy.

I 'liked' Richard's OP because it was an amusing anecdote. Made me smile.

That has nothing whatsoever to do with homeopathy.

Put it another way, would it be hypocritical of me to show my appreciation of a post by a christian, even though it had nothing to do with christianity, because they believe in god and I don't?

What would be wrong is if I had double standards - ie everyone must be nice to each other, unless they practise something I/we don't agree with.

Reminds me of the common GP comment that threadworms in young children 'must have been picked up from your dog'. Considering GPs only have one species to deal with and don't normally also act as dentists, radiographers, surgeons and pharmacists I'm surprised at their level of ignorance in many cases - with some honourable exceptions. Of course, it can work the other way. Some years ago a referred client and partner (who were both dentists) brought over their dog with the most obvious malar abscess I have ever seen, which had been treated for some time with a number of courses of antibiotics for 'an infected wound on the face' by the referring vet. As I don't do surgery myself these days I rapidly referred on to a dental specialist for (successful) removal of the offending carnassial.

Martin, I once did a house visit to an old man, whose dog "had a wound and was very listless" Dog was dead as the proverbial parrot and had been for a few days by the state of it. The wound? The other dog had been "licking her" aka eating her
