I wouldn't hold your breath - I mean it is pretty rare that people give any kind of feedback, let alone to something on the wall.

Not sure if you saw, but two other suggestions that came in, which might help:

a) Defcon 3: to print copies and include them in new client registration packs (which they might be a tad more likely to read)

b) Defcon 2: to print copies and include them in new client registration packs, then on registration put in front of client and ask them to read and autograph to indicate they have understood!

I thought it was great put them up in each surgery immediately. No feedback from the public as yet though. What will happen is what always happens the knuckle draggers who most need to read it won't.

The usual. Feckless (very young) couple, whose main concern was whether or not it was a "pure-bred collie" . Paid £250 for it, don't you know. Oh, but they saw a picture of mum when the man delivered the pup to them..... No vaccines, but walking about on a leash (we've just seen a puppy farm related parvo outbreak up here). I was quite harsh with them- if you don't have any money AT ALL, you really shouldn't take on the responsibility of a pup- advised re OOH fees etc. Oh, but it's ok: they're going to register with the PDSA.

Poor poor pup .

You heat it over a fire until it's nice and hot, then you press the big flat surface against something creased, and magically it uncreases

Have you tried ironing it? Low heat, cloth over it, you never know, the creases might disappear, or you might ruin it, don't blame me if it all goes wrong

We have put it in a frame and sadly it does look pretty awful. Even the A4 size have a crease down the centre.

Not sure how much it costs to buy, load and sell a postal tube (as opposed to an envelope) but it is likely to be a lot cheaper than paying for an online printing service to print them and presumably put them into a postage tube to send them out.

I know this sounds ungrateful but folded/faded/tatty posters are a real pet hate of mine!

It is a really good poster, a really good idea and deserves to be presented as smartly as possible.

Bob Russell Well, the idea was for it to be printed at a different size on the reverse, so practices could display unfolded at full size, or folded at smaller size, depending on how much space they have available.

So the cost of a bit more flexibility was the crease marks.

There is a plan to publish the artwork files at higher resolution, so that you could use one of the online printing services to print your own full-size version without crease marks!

Hopefully by the time we get it into a frame these may not be so obvious.

Has anyone yet spotted one of these posters in the wild yet? From what I hear, they were due to be posted at the end of last week to all practice principals. Will be very interested to hear when someone has actually seen one in the flesh.

A couple of ideas floated since the poster was published last week:

a) A veterinary nurse suggested printing a4 copies to put in all new client registration packs

b) Perhaps produce a version with a space for autographs at the bottom, for new clients to sign. This was suggested by someone on facebook (so I don't know whether they were a vet or a nurse or something else completely!) who said: "Apparently, behavioural economists have identified The Signature Effect where the physical act of getting someone to sign to acknowledge a statement actually does make them more likely to comply."

Well, this is one of the reasons why it is so important that as many people as possibly email the RCVS to give feedback about the poster. If it is well enough received, then the College will hopefully review and freshen it up from time to time, at which point suggestions for improvement like this can be considered.

Yes it is a good poster.

Display it prominently.

A plea to practices - have a good look at your notice boards - so many are overcrowded, tatty and out of date.

Noticeboard overload is worse than useless - no one will look at them.

Quite a lot I’d suspect, collecting drugs, bringing animals for treatment etc. We are equine and small animal but we get loads of equine clients in the waiting room, bringing horses for treatment, collecting drugs, making appointments etc. And I think the poster is great.
