There are so many people in this situation that there will have to be special arrangements. Nobody should be expected to take foreign citizenship if it leaves them having to give up their British citizenship.

Hopefully after the election a grown up discussion can be started rather than the mud-slinging and threats that have happened so far!

Sorry not this easy. On renewal of my Dutch passport I need to declare that I have not changed nationality. For my Dutch state pension I have to declare every year that I am still a Dutch national and have not changed nationality. Signing untrue statements in the age of internet and google is not a wise thing to do...

Totally agree mariette asselbergs I've been living in Vienna for years, married to an Austrian, and would take Austrian citizenship in an instant BUT dual citizenship is illegal here and it is not some sort of jokey bureaucracy you can just lie your way around......as so often assumed by other Brits! It really gets on my nerves that the standard answer to Brexit and the havoc it is playing with OUR lives (EU in UK and UK in EU) is that we should have applied for citizenship by now and if we haven't then it's our fault. Lots of countries don't allow dual citizenship! And I could apply for Austrian citizenship but I would only be granted "provisional" citizenship for the first 2 years until I brought them PROOF from the British authorities that I had given up my British citizenship!! It is not as easy as you think and with elderly parents in the UK (including my dad currently undergoing chemotherapy) I would like to still be able to live and work in my home country if necessary.

The only exceptions to the Austrian rules are if you have parents of different nationalities (i.e. my children are allowed to be British & Austrian citizens) or if you are "essential to the Republic of Austria" (i.e. a skier or opera singer!)

She was incapable of answering questions last night

Totally incapable of doing anything but repeating the same rehearsed phrases and jumbling them up into odd sounding sentences.

I wondered why she wouldn't get involved in a TV debate.

I suspect shenod good at reading out pre prepared apeeches

She doesn't seem capable of holding a conversation tbf

I think there is a balance to be had between a determination to get the best deal and antagonising the other side to the point where they just dig their heals in and say no. I worry that Theresa May tends too far towards antagonising the other EU nations and the EU Brexit negotiating team. Having said that I'm not convinced that the other side are any better.

We're still spending more than we are bringing in via various taxes

Household debt is rising

The last think this country owns of any value is it's housing stock, but that's being raided by children to pay for their inflated houses and now the government to pay for social care.

We can't live beyond our means, yet no-one wants to pay for it.

The ONLY solution is to raise taxation to everyone. The Lib Dems will add 1% for the NHS, labour won't do it, the Conservatives will (it's coded in a totally non commit ant manifesto) In this at least I applaud the Tories that some realism is creeping in.

I wasn't aware either. Last week odds were 20/1 against Labour getting the most seats.

ypu probably haven't heard about her calling an election with no manifesto, then publishing a maniafesto with no costings and then crubling when challenged on the manifesto and doing a U turn whilst blaming JC that her manifesto promise is rubbish

Theresa May has done a U turn on her social care policy which is in her manifesto, with just over 2 weeks to the election! Strong and stable leadership, don't make me laugh. She's not a leader, just an opportunist who got lucky in all the post Brexit chaos.

I've voted Lib Dem and Labour in the past according to local circumstances and the make up of the Conservatives. I admit I'm a Conservative at heart but then that's the pragmatism. Under Hague and IDS they were unelectable and a shambles. Bigger picture and all that. Just surprised that educated people are so wedded to beliefs - I suppose it's a bit like the irrationality of supporting a football team so passionately that reason goes out of the window. C'est la vie.

The Labour party is a complete shambles. I can't think of one member of the shadow cabinet that I would want anywhere near running a governmental department. He won by allowing large numbers of people to join the Labour Party for a few quid. Mobilising enough people to overwhelm long-standing party members. Clever? Yes, but even 100% of a small minority can outnumber a small percentage of usual voters. His cronies are very good at mobilising supporters whereas the majority stand by (similar to RCVS elections!).

Does it mean he will be appreciated and trusted by the average voter? Not likely IMO!

I'm not a huge fan of Jeremy Corbyn, but I do find comments like this very odd, whatever you think of the job he is doing or how well he would do as prime minister he does have a proven track record in winning elections having twice won the election to be the leader of the labour party, which is a slightly more substantial organisation than a village hall committee.

Not sure that us having a 'strong negotiating position' over leaving the EU is a)possible or b)likely to be significantly influenced by us going in with an elected PM. If I disagree with most of the fundamental values of a party, and many of their policies or manifesto proposals, I certainly wouldn't consider voting for them just based on a very theoretical improvement in our negotiation position to leave the EU.

Michael Gove cocked up his figures too, but the Tory press didn't report that. I don't buy the whole Tories are the best party for Brexit either. Theresa May wasn't even a Leaver, yet all the Leave protagonists just disappeared in to the sunset when Cameron resigned! Jeremy Corbyn said he would guarantee that EU nationals living here could stay - a positive first step.

The figures are almost universally useless! So many factors are involved that very quickly they become meaningless.

Dianne Abbott is so good at figures that I quite believe corporation tax can be spent so many times over without harming industry!

I always felt it was foolish to say tax rates will not go up over the next parliament. It reduces flexibility of spending even if essential

Corbyn's Labour is so full of promises that it should appeal to every voter, until you work out how much it is going to cost.

Big businesses faced with a hefty corporation tax bill will just find ways to avoid it. New businesses will not come to the UK in the first place!
