Yup, good to meet a few of you guys. For those who didn't get there: Arlo looks a lot younger in real life than in the photos. As for me, well.....erm I'd like to think the same but then I'm biased.

Pleasure was all mine! I was there (evidence to follow below, M'lud), but hadn't realised in advance that the drinks were going to be served from two bars! Anyway, sorry to miss you, but it was great to bump into some familiar faces ...

Also good to see Luca Poddighe, Malcolm Ness, Mike Martin, Bradley Viner, and Lizzie Lockett and Catherine Oxtoby (the latter two giving a fascinating talk about 'mistakes' which I'll be reporting on). One person who I was sorry not to see was J G Wray, who was rumoured to have been in da house.

And the VetSurgeon/VetNurse sponsored Vet Confessionals turned out to be quite a talking point - I counted over 40 'confessions' by the time I arrived on Saturday morning, many really thought-provoking (will share them in due course).

Unfortunately I couldn't stay for any longer, but I spent about 11 hours going through ophthalmology lectures at BSAVA. I really enjoyed them.

On Saturday afternoon, I finally met Arlo Guthrie, (I've been waiting for years!) It was very impressive the amount of drinks that were around on Arlo's behalf (I had four+, I'm unable to count after that!) and I had a lovely time talking to Martin Atkinson, Danny Chambers, Clair Firth, and many more... about which drop would work best for a dog with glaucoma secondary to uveitis... A really tough one, because if you do have glaucoma, the cornea might be so blue that you don't really see the uveitis. So should you risk prostaglandin analogues or would you stick to carbon anhydrase inhibitors? ... ;-)

Anyway, my girlfriend loved the Tshirt Arlo and I think we will come to congress again next year; as long as you do the drinks again!

Yes, long overdue! Actually I've long thought I would like to do more to bring members together offline as well as on, so when BSAVA approached me, the answer was always going to be yes!

That sounds great. Sorry I will miss it. This year for the first time at BSAVA Congress, I will be exiting stage left at 4pm on Saturday to catch a train home even though it's not "The Last Train" Another Arlo Guthrie song, Mark :-)

I was going to ask if you were going to have a presence at BSAVA. I'm likely to be there Saturday afternoon so will deffo pop along but as I'll be driving back perhaps only my nurses will be partaking of the alcoholic beverage.
