I don't know, I quite liked it.

Our nurses feed dogs that still like to eat brownies or chocolate croissants before we put them to sleep. These overweight, "off their legs" labradors, retrievers or GSDs. It is lovely to let them have what they never could have in life.

It is just that, crap.

A half arsed sob story about a young woman with a dying dog, but its all about the woman me, me me. Another case of someone who has a pathological attachment too and over humanising a pet.

It has nothing at all to do with the dog, or is there any mention of the welfare implications of dragging a terminally sick animal on a whip stop tour of the US; dressing as santa, eating doughnuts and Lobster, and visiting Time square just to pacify the upset owner. Rather sad really.

Ahhh EMPATHY write large.

With a nod to James Blunt, I suspect the author might recognise some of what is written here and point out they no longer have a mortgage.

The value owners place on their relationship with their pets is no secret. It may be valuable to vets to work with this rather than see it as endlessly contemptible.

Cynic. You gotta admire her if she's making money......

I was thinking more about the endless interest in the emotional side of pet ownership - the depth of the human animal bond as you put it. Vets may be a tad objective about all this, but there is some merit in considering how to present information (curating it) when you are intruding through your work into this world. Presenting information in a transactional form may not be the best way forward.
