Hi Trevor,

It would be great to have a pathologist representing us on council. I think we need to look at why there aren't enough pathologists to work in the UK to start with. Why isn't the RCVS doing more to promote alternatives to clinical practice? Why are universities not training more residents? Why is pathology not considered as a career option by more people?

But unfortunately there will be nothing that RCVS can do about people offering telemedicine via internet from abroad, regardless of the outcomes of their current questionnaire...

+1 for my vote too.

I was fortunate enough to be able to see practice as a student with Trevor in his lab. He made the time and had the patience to teach me a great deal about clinical histopathology. One of the good guys and would certainly vote for.

Mine too.

I have known Trevor for many years - he has been my first choice pathologist since I first found him probably 25 years ago. For those of you who don't know him, he has worked as a clinical histopathologist serving primary care, referral, university and research practice over many years while starting up and running his own very sucessful path practice.

He speaks profound good sense on a wide range of subjects and has a good empathy and understanding of UK veterinary practice as well as wider experience of universities and practice further afield.He is very much more than a "single interest" pathology candidate and his maturity, wide experience and common sense will stand him in good stead on RCVS council.

Vote for Trevor!

If there are doubts regarding the level of expertise then there should be doubts as to whether we are using the correct lab in the first place.

I take it on trust that our laboratory will make appropriate decisions based on their expertise.

Not sure why a veterinary pathologist in the US would be registered as an MRCVS?

As long as they have the correct level of expertise then I would not be overly worried and if they are the best in their field I would be strongly in favour of this form of 'telemedicine'.

We need to trust the laboratory making this decision on our behalf to ensure the highest clinical standards.

Clearly this is not a world where ethics are at the levels of even a decade ago so if the labs are doing a substandard job to save money then this is a different matter entirely!

I didn't know that Trevor. Looks like we should approach lab submissions as we do our waste carriers - we have to know where they send it.
