I think sharing what I picked up may be interesting for people on this forum.

Is there really an indicator that the motivated are not doing fine and the unmotivated are likely to make things up?

There are doctors that manage to get really out of date. Similarly opticians and dentists. The cr+p ones are likely to be found out in the end or get away with it!

The opportunities are there to do CPD which is far more important IMO than documenting what may or may not have been done to keep up to date.

For the vast majority it ain't broke so don't think for a second that there is a single answer to deal with the minority.

At the moment the ones to watch are those that have refused to send in the CPD logs (have to admit my online record is not up to date!).

Employers should be checking employees are keeping up to date. Single handed practices and the bosses may actually be the ones that have to justify themselves more!

Couple of metaphors spring to mind :

Following the crowd can lead nowhere .

You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink.

The current on line system is fine: If its not broken do not try to fix it .

If people are focused, interested and driven they will learn and keep up, if they are not no amount of headmasterly directed spoon feeding and creative educational posturing will make any difference.
