A bit too 'fluffy bunny' for my taste but have to say nothing caused me much concern. Nice to see a specialist performing an op within a general practice.

Overall I have seen far worse and the vet team came out of it looking a lot less loony than the Sussex clientele!

Nice to know. Getting angry is about self, unfortunately, in the home or workplace it's observed by others and if your place is to set an example, then...

As for stoicism, it's a development of and complementary to resilience. That's all desirable in my view.

Besides, why bother with stuff on TV or any media that makes you angry? Just switch it off or change channels or get some fresh air

I make a point of never watching any reality TV because I know I will be shouting at the telly within 30 seconds, 10 seconds in the case of vet reality shows. I tried to watch The Jump because it has Bradly Wiggins but that lasted all of a minute. Still if this crap, like The Sun and TV soaps, is what stops the proletariat from rioting then keep it on but then we gave them the chance to vote on something important last June and look what happened!*

*Maybe we should have a new Godwin's Law - Atkinson's Law: the longer any discussion goes on the more likely it is to end with mentioning Brexit!

I think you're picturing a whole lot of Victor Meldrews shouting angrily at the TV, when the reality is far more amusing and light hearted than that.

Just because I say I get angry doesn't mean that I am not in full control of my life and my emotions. If you never ever get angry at anything anymore, I'd worry that you've got a bigger problem than me! Lighten up JGW!

Like so much in Our World making people angry ( shouting at the TV) neither the provocation nor the response is necessary. This is one example where you can simply shut it off or make a decision not to be provoked. There's a lot to be said for stoicism, something which can be learned.

Never seen vet on the hill. But we too are banned from watching vet programmes when our (grown up) children are home for the same reason - too much shouting at the tv! And one of the (many) reasons for never letting cameras into our practice, I'd be imagining you lot shouting at me....

Hahahaha, Gillian, you made me laugh out loud. Because my daughter told me the other day: "Oh mum, you're not going to watch this vet stuff again, are you and getting all upset about it?" After that she and her laptop left to the depths of her teenage hideaway (aka bedroom) only to be seen the next morning!

It might be an urban myth but I was told a South African vet set up in Surrey. Huge consulting room, leather sofa and prices to match. He left 5 years later and bought a farm back in South Africa

I'm the worst actor ever, I wouldn't have survived doing this even for a year, let alone five! I'm not even able to sell stuff actively (like nutraceuticals), thank God my staff can do this at least a bit better than myself.

Haha, I think every vet attracts the kind of clientele that fits him or her. When I was looking to buy a practice I visited one run by a very good looking, eloquent male vet, all the elderly ladies with their golden jewelry and their West-Highland-White Terriers reading every word he said from his lips, practice decorated with expensive art work (which was for sale). I ran for my life, they wouldn't have spent a dime once this practice was mine I'm sure!
