The fact you&amp;#39;ve given 10 years loyal service (part without a contract) would tell me as a potential future employer more than the fact you just walked out, I would suspect the employer was more at fault that you under those circumstances for you to make such a drastic decision. However all the other&amp;#39;s have said needs to be taken into consideration.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I had a job once that was so bad I gave my notice in at the end of the first week. &lt;p&gt;I was in a similar situation last year having changed hours and role but not having an updated contract. I spoke to ACAS who advised sticking to the contracted notice period as the basic conditions would be considered ongoing even though hours and other details had changed. However, if there is a situation that you feel is forcing you out or damaging your career/professional reputation and you can&amp;#39;t envision seeing out a full notice period then there are other options (including taking leave, friendly negotiation with bosses and more confrontational approaches).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Why have you not got an employment contract? I suppose without one&amp;nbsp;in place, you could just walk out, but unless there are extenuating circumstances that would be unprofessional and could as Michael points out come back to bite you on the a*** one day.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It&amp;#39;s a small profession and you never know if you may want to go back, use current employer as a reference etc.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Although, reading between the lines, I get the feeling you&amp;#39;d rather leave sooner......&lt;/p&gt;
