No birth control, no euthanasia. If you have an unwanted cat, you take it to the temple and the monks care for it and the numerous offspring it goes on to produce. Gifts offered by the public to assist in the upkeep so a nice little earner.

Not sure there is a Buddhist attitude any more than a Christian one. Perhaps there are fewer 'Victorian' hang-ups or puritanical guilt that some other religions seem to revolve around.

Nice idea but not the real world!

Ah but cats don't breed special mice then release them in order to then catch and torture them! Or breed dysplastic mice that have crippling arthritis from a young age and keep them as pets because they look like infants...

I know we are vets, on a vet forum talking about animals, but mistreatment of other humans is leaps and bounds worse and far more depressing, IMO.

But if we can't treat animals well then there is no hope for humanity. Many murderers and serial killers have a history of animal cruelty and torture.

I know we are vets, on a vet forum talking about animals, but mistreatment of other humans is leaps and bounds worse and far more depressing, IMO.

[/quote]I know and understand the excuses that allowing limited hunting and the money that comes from it will actually improve conservation, but I can't get into the heads of the people who find pleasure in hunting and killing so I would be threatening to lynch them and can't help believing that with the will there is a better way of achieving that aim.

The link went to a feature on big game hunting, I hadn't got the will to continue on the off chance of witnessing your 15 minutes of fame David.

I didn't watch the program originally, nor the big game one for that matter, because I knew that it would just make me angry and sad in equal measure.
