Cats urine contains something that cross reacts with this part of the dipstix so useless for cats so high proportion of false positives. Probably similarly useless for dogs too.

Can someone enlighten me why the leuks are invalid for animals on the dipsticks? It came up in discussion the other day and I couldn't remember why.

We use Siemens multistix +10 but I don't rely on any of them for anything other than glucose, blood and pH. If the protein is very low or very high I believe that but otherwise I ignore it and do some other tests.
