These data were collected, and people gave them voluntarily, for the purpose of checking on discrimination

RE: Retract your ethnicity from government databases
How on earth can anyone plan any form of immigration policy without knowing the numbers?
Ethnicity is unrelated to nationality and has no bearing on immigration numbers anyway.
Date of birth and (less so) marital status can be relevant if you open any account as it may impact credit rating.

RE: Retract your ethnicity from government databases

I tend to give as little information as possible.

I recently registered and opened an online shop account, where they asked me for date of birth, marital status and ethnic origin. I left it blank as it is not relevant.
