in the 'bad old days', would be used on any cat with allergic conditions, including gingivitis but as Anthony has mentioned when the owner is getting desperate and the antidepressants, diet changes, famciclovir and various other things haven't worked then before pts, give it a try

Yes, used it with total success in all those except squamous cell carcinoma, often after people came to me in desperation...

Seemed to work when Depomedrone didn't, [sometimes the reverse was better though] had the advantage of lasting for a week or more, oral and palatable so almost all but Highgate Housewives could dose the suffering cat.

Pulse dosing only as necessary, of course, and defo not continuous!! Never saw an iatrogenic diabetic, but I would say that....

Try it when all the "politically correct" treatment fails, and the client and cat are desperate.

Gave myself one star to save everyone the trouble.

For gingivitis, no, of course not. I expect people have tried it with Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis, reasoning that it worked on flea allergy dermatitis (miliary dermatitis). But it's less potent than other glucocorticoids, no? Just not sure if it has any specific indications for any oral/dental conditions either evidentially or anecdotally...!
