Was very cheap but absolute Rolls Royce compared to the cheap Chinese one out front!

As far as I am aware they all have standard fittings for objectives etc.

RE: Microscopes

The objectives on our old microscope are decent and I'm hoping we can use these if necessary - do they have a standard fitting?

RE: Microscopes

Something 2nd hand and German, rather than new and Indian/Chinese.

They appear all the time on ebay and various other 2nd hand microscope sites. I have a beautiful Zeiss with phase contrast for less money than I can buy a cheaper crappy one.

Don't worry too much about the objectives that come with it - they can often be picked up with a random selection and you can buy replacement ones for reasonable money.
