We've had a few cases of clipper rash/infections recently, and I wondered what other people are doing to sterilise clipper blades during the day or between patients? We currently use a brush and spray between each patient, but have no regular

RE: Clipper Blades

[quote user="Bob Russell"]The cordless clippers are more of a challenge, the little ones don't hold their charge and the bigger ones leave 'tramlines'. I get more problems with those, possibly because it gives the skin chance to feed into the blade as well?

RE: Clipper Blades

Usually it is because the tips of the comb [bottom blade] has been repeatedly sharpened thus becoming thinner, pointed and very sharp.

Wet and dry paper to round the comb blade tips solves the problem, but always ensure the comb is flat and not "scraped" across the skin.

RE: Clipper Blades

We had to get some disinfecting cleaner for the TB testing contract and got this:

Use in on all the clippers and I think less reactions. A squirt of Cavilon spray sorts anything looking sore.

RE: Clipper Blades

Probably better talking to a hairdresser .

RE: Clipper Blades

Are they sharp enough? Some reaction is almost inevitable when you are trying to clip delicate skin really close. Sharp blades do less damage!

We do autoclave the 'Oster' blades then lubricate them well!

The cordless clippers are more of a challenge, the little ones don't hold their charge and the bigger ones leave 'tramlines'. Very quiet though!

Still waiting for the perfect set of clippers!
