We rely on this on a day to day basis and retrospective data logger for the VMD!

RE: What do you use to log your vaccine fridge temperatures?

Simplest, cheapest and most reliable method is a max/min thermometer in the fridge with someone delegated to read and record it daily (and more importantly to actually do something about it if temperatures stray too hi or low). The ones you can read externally, as described above, are the easiest to use.

Data loggers can be problematic as they provide retrospective data - some people just download them weekly or even monthly - a waste of time knowing that your fridge went wrong a month ago! They also need an audible alarm to indicate there is a problem (some have a visual alarm - but this is less good unless checked meticulously - as loggers often get lost or buried behind other stuff in the fridge).

RE: What do you use to log your vaccine fridge temperatures?

Another practice just noting down the temperatures. If you have a data-logger you still need to check the actual temperature daily to make sure it's working. Either way, you also need a protocol for what to do if the temperature is out of range. We recently moved from having the max/min thermometer in the fridge to sticking it on the front with a sensor on a wire going in through the door, so you can read it without the door being open (and the fridge temperature having risen)

RE: What do you use to log your vaccine fridge temperatures?

No, Just delegate the job to areliable member of staff with a notebook/record-book and using a maximum/mininmum digital thermometer. It worked for me. One of the more useful requirements of the Practice Standards Scheme I felt. But a bit alarming to see the temperature-variations! We didn't use a high-tech-system just conscientiousness and pen and paper.

RE: What do you use to log your vaccine fridge temperatures?

Notebook

A little notebook.

[/quote]Ditto. Well actually a clipboard on each fridge which is checked twice a day, including the weekend/bank holidays with a standard fridge thermometer and a maximum/minimum thermometer weekly. The man from the VMD was happy with this. There is no need to get over-technical/expensive unless you're storing large quantities of temperature sensitive products.

RE: What do you use to log your vaccine fridge temperatures?

A data logger that used to be sold by Animus.
