If we refer an animal to a referral centre/specialist which is not part of the RSA preferred network for a non-urgent condition the client gets £200 knocked off their claim. By definition a client cannot walk into a referral clinic by choice and if they choose to go to another first opinion practice he/she is not being referred so there is no reason why there should be any issue. Vets Now etc are not referral/specialist centres they are OOH providers, even if they like to think of themselves as emergency specialists, so the excess cannot apply.

RE: RSA, referrals, second opinions and client choice

Insurence forms have a question for referral centres " Are you part of the RSA preferred network?"
