The world has changed since it was installed 7 years ago!

we have 2 lines - one fax and office and one reception with multiple phones connected so can be picked up anywhere. No leases, no funny business, no miserable music, no putting indefinitely on hold, if someone needs to phone back later, please do so.

[/quote]Ditto but as a sole charge practice I don't need more. The company that sold it and gives good service back-up for a modest annual fee is Converse Telecom.

The only problem is that the phone in the practice flat occasionally pages one of the surgery phones all by itself and despite multiple tests, even changing the main circuit board, it still happens. We blame it on the ghost of the little girl who allegedly haunts us. That's a much more interesting story than boring phone contracts.

They used to trade as Provoice and for a time targeted practices with the promise of free phone systems.

We are probably going to replace our system with another local company. Maintenance contract with them. Apparently we can arrange for calls to be made via another company so will only be stuck with Peach for line rental.

Anyone with Peach should be very careful before signing any order form. The small print is on the order form (and small), not in the six pages of small print that is attached to the order form! I actually went through the small print at the time!

RE: Replacement phone system.

Bob Russell to be clear - your bad experience is not with Merlin?

RE: Replacement phone system.

Sadly turns out we are stuffed. Pages of small print requiring a magnifying glass and all mentioning 30 days notice. On the order form in small print it states a 60 month contract!

Screwed again but we will invest in a new system that can be upgraded as the internet improves.

These crooks are wise to people reading reams of small print. They put the bad bit somewhere else!

Peach Telecom - leave them well alone unless you want to be screwed big time!

I was looking for a telephone solution. Clicked on your link to find they are based 20 miles away from me. I called them at 10.00am and met at the new site at 12.30!

Seems a thoroughly good guy and not tied in to any contracts. If they give crap service you give 30 days notice and leave. Waiting on a price, but very very impressed so far.
