Well, seemingly they do.

Neil, I have donated to your son's page given the successful night at the bookies last night and a feeling of happiness today.

I don't expect you to donate £70 to the RSPCA (as in I'm not casting aspersions on your honesty when agreeing a bet, I just don't want you to feel pressured or obliged - twas but a bit of fun). If you want to donate anything, then please donate to your son's page, whichever amount you choose is likely to do more good at a local level.

Ha, sorry, I wasn't clear.

You're essentially the bookie here, giving me 7/1 odds on Brexit.

I'm betting you £10 that Brexit happens. If they don't, I donate that £10 to your son's bike ride fund.

If Brexit happens, you pay £70 to the RSPCA.

Nether of us gives each other money, it all goes to charity. If Remain wins, your son's fundraising gets £10, if Brexit wins, RSPCA gets £70 from you.

[I'm likely going to bet on this with the bookies - this part is irrelevant to our arrangement (other than to cover my losses)]

I've read this 3 times and so has the receptionist (because I think you're an intelligent chap and I'm trying to see the catch)

So it's a lose, lose, lose isn't it for BREXIT?

If we BREXIT, you win £70 and I give £70 to the RSPCA and I'll be worse of economically. Sounds like something Boris would make up.
