We have a couple of breeders who have their bitches vaccinated against Herpes. Unfortunately, the Eurican Herpes vaccination is currently out of stock and on backorder. If anyone does have some sitting in their fridge but doesn't use them

RE: Wanted: Eurican Herpes Vaccinations.
Interesting? And if it does make a difference as there were suggestions that herpes virus can cause ocular problems and deafness in pups, not just abortion (please correct me if I am wrong) how can that be "interesting"?
Yes, I would consider it interesting! It is potentially more interesting if you are a commercial breeder as it may increase productivity!

If 50% of dogs are thought to have been exposed it is a common pathogen. Mostly relatively mild symptoms.

Breeders are likely to be more interested than the general public. Vet Record suggests the vaccine works quite well.

Interesting.

Have you got the papers that discuss this I can look at? Genuinely interested. Considering the percentage of litters born in the UK that actually get vaccinated against herpes, I think the risk is low.

RE: Wanted: Eurican Herpes Vaccinations.

Henry schein got our most recent batch with everyone else on back order until October or March!

RE: Wanted: Eurican Herpes Vaccinations.

Interesting? Will try Henry Schein. I personally don't think it's a big deal if a few litters don't have the vaccine, it would actually be interesting to see if it makes any difference. But the 2 breeders are friends of each other and have been giving the herpes vaccines for donkey years and are rather worried about not giving it. So we promised them to do our best to try and source some.

RE: Wanted: Eurican Herpes Vaccinations.

We got ours from Henry Schein but not sure what their stocks are.
I had a similar problem last year and there were limited stocks around then - I would imagine with the expiry dates there is even less now!

I spoke to a couple of reproduction experts and they said it's not really needed, but breeders seem to insist on it despite this. You could try speaking to your breeder clients about repro experts' opinions?
