Vet services FOC are mostly via the PDSA ,which helps because without it they would be on our doorsteps constantly wanting something for nothing with a sting quartet playing in the background. All things considered its a good thing ,however my head nurse recently had a bun fight with them when they snootily rang for the history of a bad debtor ,gave us their old name and address demanded the history but refused to give us their up to date contact details so that we could forward them onto the debt collectors , Nice !!! , While hiding behind data protection. So in future we are refusing all requests without signed dated authorisation from the client at their former and current address . Two can play at that game!!.

RE: RSPCA - are they there to help or not?

Fair play Martin.
I still think they could and should sack headquarters staff so as to fund more Inspectors.

Yes

We have strict rules about who we'll see defined by location and benefits/amount of low income received, just like all charities. London is carved up into areas by postcode which determines location. Putney stretches from Harrow round to Croydon, within the m25. The RSPCA see the most number of benefits compared to other charities. On top of that we see inspectorate and stray animals. Last year we had over 13,000 consultations for public, and currently have >40,000 animals on our books. We can't see everyone, dear.

If you've someone you think qualifies, give us a ring. We're a friendly bunch.
I can't remember specific examples
I thought that might be the case. QED.
It typically takes between 5 and 10 minutes and that is we haven't gone off to make a cup of tea or given up the will to live!
Are you sure you were ringing the right number?

RE: RSPCA - are they there to help or not?
It depends what you were asking for and whether the client was eligible by location and benefits. I'll make specific notes the next time.
The phone always gets answered, usually within 5 rings
Clearly your experience of phone answering at Putney is not that of the caller.
