Or bury it in the ground - takes a bit longer but works well, as long as you can remember where you've buried it, and as long as your dogs don't dig it up first.....

I got my local huntsman to boil me up a horse head - saved the saucepans and the smell!

£25 for a fox skull or $120+ for a dog?

Why buy from a supplier? A fox is likely to have been shot as 'vermin' so zero additional welfare issues.

Or, seeing as you ae practising radiography, just use a head?

Or send for one from Skulls Unlimited (though it seems faintly ridiculous to have to send to the USA for a dog's skull):

Or buy a whole skeleton (real) from one of the equipment wholesalers.

A schools scientific supplies house used to be the obvious source, but now they only do plastic models...... don't get me started on that

I found a fox skull on ebay. The one I bought came from Eastern Europe and was inexpensive.

Quite good for demonstration purposes as the teeth are well spaced so ideal practise material.

I could only get a cat skull from China which did raise a number of welfare concerns but they did say it died naturally!!
