Yes. I need some advice - I think my cat has a tick - she is 13 years old and has never been to the vet and I don't know what to do.... deep breaths.[/quote]

My stories are nowhere near as good as these (yet!) but this one I can relate to. I remember getting a phone call on a Sunday afternoon from a lady in a right panic from whom I finally managed to extract the information that her dog had a tick and that she was driving back from Birmingham (1hr away) so I could treat it (dog, not tick). She rang off before I could explain the definition of an emergency....

The phone goes again, about an hour later, from the same woman, in even more of a panic, who has now arrived home to find the tick has vanished - problem solved! No, apparently not, as that means it must have fallen off in her car and what should she do.......very deep breaths......

RE: And so the shannanignas continue.....

Many may call me a weirdo but I actually find the Kiwi stuff quite exciting - give me blood and guts versus diarrhoea and anal glands any day! In the city emergency clinic there we regularly used to get dogs coming in that had been sliced and diced by roving pit bulls, along with the owners in a similar state who had tried to intervene in the attack. Often we had to do emergency patching of owners wounds plus cup of sugary tea for shock before proceeding to piece their poor pooches back together. It is interesting what the cultural definition of an emergency is - an experienced smallies South African vet once said to me that over there the usual emergencies are shootings, stabbings and poisonings, and he couldn't understand why people here turned up at the after hours clinic with diarrhoea and vomiting....its all relative!

RE: And so the shannanignas continue.....

I'm laughing but pretty glad a.)
