Yes Martin, what is the trick for blocking numbers?

Our son said you need to listen to the end of the recorded message, then they give you the option not getting these calls by pressing number 9. I have tried that but it had no effect whatsoever, the lady with the American accent "hi there" still phones every bloody day!

We have a new member of staff who has to go through the standard learning curve! Anyone asking for Robert is trying to sell something.

Anyone trying to sell something but using my christian name, generally will not get through unless personally known to me!

I am sure the phone system can be made to block numbers but nobody knows how!

When they inevitably start with the gambit 'how are you today'? I reply 'much better before you phoned'. That only stalls them for a second then I tell them I had a serious accident which is so complex they had better go and look at the case of Pressdram v Arkell 1971 for guidance and call me back when they have reviewed it then put the phone down. Might as well be speaking to them in Welsh for all they understand that mind you. I then block the number.

My last one was 03:09 AM Saturday morning , music playing in the background, might have known really He said he had stood on and crushed his gerbil and it was not moving or breathing , I said we could look at it but if it was not breathing and unresponsive it was probably dead , he then asked if he could revive it with an ecstasy tablet ,before announcing that he was going to put it in the microwave. Then the phone went dead . No number stored of course , could not get back to sleep again because of the irritation . Recognised the voice as a guy who had tried to pick up his recovered ruptured toxic pyo without any money earlier in the day (no proof of course ). Got angry when I made him pay at least £300 off his bill. Suspect he was getting his revenge .

I just put the phone down on nuisance callers.

No, but plenty of nuisance calls from people who want to sell things. A cousin of mine has a brilliant way of dealing with them. He very politely requests them in Welsh to speak Welsh!
