[/quote]I did nearly 35 years on call, 30 of those sole charge 24/7 365 and I got pretty good at being able to switch off and in the state of mind that I wasn't on call until the phone rang. However, like you Clare, I still go to bed and inwardly smile that I won't be woken up in the night - at least by a client, but there is always likely to be a daughter who has missed the last train and needs picking up from the back of beyond at some God forsaken hour! I've pretty well got over the sudden shock of a mobile phone going off but it still happens occasionally.

I believe that is a feature available in the next upgrade of the software we use; but either way certainly something I can take a look at once we have the latest round of enhancements finished (I'm optimistic that VetSurgeon for mobile phones should be coming this week).

Awwww... that's so sweet! Thanks for all your support. I must admit that working on nights and weekends takes its toll on sleeping patterns and social life, but it also has its rewarding pros. Not missing vaccine and ear infection's appointments, but it feels a bit lonely sometimes, like wishing someone else were awake after midnight to get quick answers on the forum.

There is a perverse self-satisfaction from getting out and battling the elements so it was no hardship. Even I am not insane enough to go out on my bike this morning though. Just watched one of my cats get knocked off his feet by a gust of wind - he came back in pretty smartish.

Yes- we should all be saying thanks to all the vets working this Easter. Good job somebody is doing so!

I, however, have had Easter off to eat chocolate, make lots of rat toys/beds (new pets arriving later this week) and go out last night on the piss work social.

Some of us (cough) are working. Lambing and calving season.

4am start on Friday AM, 4.30am on Sat AM - both lambings. Cow caesarian this AM. Steady trickle of jobs throughout the weekend (mainly farm animals, but seen a couple of dogs too).
