I have been asked to give my statement as a witness in a case against two Vets from a practice a was a Locum one year ago.
Does anybody has a similar experience?

I've done this too. It feels awful and it's really hard to do. However, just reporting waht you saw happen or heard etc. Don't use adjectives and adverbs and don't ascribe a reason for anyone's behaviour.

Keep it short and simple and descriptive.

Good luck!

A witness!

You state what you saw, did and saw done. You do not give opinions unless you are to be considered an expert witness.

It is up to the PIC/DC and any expert witnesses they (or the defence) call to decide if a vet is a liability or not!

If specifically asked there are a number of ways of politely making your disapproval know. I would not have done it that way, I was concerned etc. but still to be done under the expert guidance of VDS. If they are not available to you then just stick to facts!

RE: witness

Thank you!I'll follow your advice!

RE: witness

Thank you!

RE: witness

Yes, talk to the VDS. I was in a similar situation and they gave me some great advice and even read through my statement for me to make sure it was OK.

Essentially you just have to write what you saw and heard but not make any comment or give your opinion on the vets involved, unless asked. I thought the guy I had to write about was a total liability but the VDS forbade me from making any such remarks because it would have been denigrating a colleague!

RE: witness

No but generic advice is available.

Talk to VDS (or your indemnity insurance company), listen to their response and follow their advice!

Be honest, don't faff about, if you know or saw something be honest, don't speculate but only after talking to VDS!

Not a nice situation to be in but help is out there!
