There is the suggestion that animals are a big problem passing on their dirty, resistant germs to owners.

The reality further on just states that bugs can go from people to pets and vice versa. Vets should not be put under pressure to prescribe antibiotics and courses should be completed. No news there!

Just another bit of crap writing around an emotive headline!

RE: Pets and their owners....

Even if it is true, more people probably benefit from having a balanced immune system from exposure to a range of environmental challenges including pets than will pick up dodgy infections. There is more evidence to suggest that the increase in childhood asthma is due to over-protective parents and lack of exposure to these environmental challenges.

RE: Pets and their owners....

The article talks about research. Where is it? I mean, these are strong statements and while I don't want to question their validity without more info, I find that you'll need a very robust link to justify them. We all know about zoonosis and it is true that people with animals have different bacteria in their home and skin but these hardly cause problems. Is there more humans admitted to Hospital for MRSA infections if they've got pets? Is it a statistic link or a properly defined cause-consequence?
