I agree - the other half sold his old rust-bucket this year (no time to do the restoration required) and I miss it (don't think Niall will agree as he once had to look at it parked in a corner of the practice car park for a few weeks while it was more broken than usual)

Thanks Karen, I wasn't aware of a scheme like this in the UK- France Passion is a similar scheme- we found the aires a bit impersonal and not always that scenic, so worth a look at the France passion scheme. We have stayed at some amazing locations and takes you off the beaten track a bit. (and its not a dodgy website Michael!)

For low season cheap rates in Europe and some in UK visit vicarious book website and buy an acsi card. Good sites at good rates . We have a van conversion and love it. Chilled holidays visited some great sites good bad and very odd!

in UK look up britstop, free over night stops in UK often at pubs . In France there is a huge number of aires .

Snap! We do triathlons as well. Not sure where you are based and what distances you do, but there are some nice ones in the New Foresr. And I just looked at next year- Lake District, Wales etc! Exciting times

Thank-you Sandra. Glad you've enjoyed having your camper - hoping we'll do the same!

We have been members of the C&C club for a while - have always been tent campers! Hoping to make use of some of the DA meets now though - they are nice and cheap but we didn't have own sanitation before.

Ian and I do triathlons and running events so we are hoping the van will come in handy for those!

I am excited for you! We bought a very well looked after 2nd hand 4-berth camper and we love it. Went for a couple of weekends away (makes attending sports events so much easier!) and then drove to Switzerland for my sister's wedding. And yes- took the bikes. Had the most brilliant time, despite a fair few rainy days!

We joined the Camping and Caravaning Club. Excellent website and service. Booked a few campsites as well as our ferry crossings with them- all very easy and hassle free!

Haha...not such positive replies! Lol

But to reassure you both..there is a 4 bike holder going to be fitted on the back which will be well used. Can't cycle to Europe and back in a fortnight tho....

David...my first job was mixed practice in the Lake District...you don't need to tell me about traffic!

Evelyn....I really like my own space and have a very hairy dog, so B&Bs not ideal!

You lot really know how to rain on someone's parade! (And I put that politely!)

1) Sell it and spend the nights in a comfy B & B instead

2) Buy a VW camper instead (not the diesel type)

3) Retire, you're half way there now

4) If you see a couple of bicycle campers next door in a Hilleberg tent, put the kettle on and bake a cake

5) Stick a bike rack on the back and save fuel

6) Enjoy!!
