I learnt things from the ALKP discussion and will claim this as with 40 posts that's an hour isn't it?

I think the more 'basic' posts are really useful for everyone, but then again I've just attended an RVC 25 year re-union and we were shown round the equine block. I asked why in the 21st century were schools still trying to teach everything when knowledge doubles every 5 years, but our brains don't. A wag in the year pointed out that I was always the one to ask a question, so maybe it's just Me!!

As I've said before, this is something that in my experience at least is unique on this type of forum. You give the impression you are our friend and part or our community, at least the regular hard core! If I didn't feel that way I wouldn't post so much.

Well, I'd love to claim altruism but of course there is a lot of self-interest going on! Stating the obvious, but the more functionality I can build, the more I hope the site will appeal to more members of the profession, the more traffic, the more advertising revenue.

Still, I'm equally driven by the huge satisfaction I get from doing stuff that people like / find useful. So whilst no need to thank me ...

Interesting side effect of the new CPD recording system ...

I'm able to see which content (forum threads/videos/news etc) is attracting the largest number of members recording it as CPD (in other words, saying they learned something from it).

That leads to lots of ideas, including highlighting the most popular content for the monthly newsletter, perhaps throwing a few bottles of champagne around for the people who started the most valuable discussions over the course of the year, etc. etc.

Positively fizzing with ideas here at VSHQ!

Are you talking about the font-size in the email? Yes, sorry about that. I was a) feeling a bit shouty about this, and b) experimenting with relative rather than fixed font-sizes, which is intended to help those reading on mobile phones but may have had the unintended consequence of looking a tad large on some other devices.

Meanwhile, I've just emailed the official announcement about the new Claim CPD function on the site to everyone, but very pleased to see that the system tells me there are already over 40 records created in less than a week, and that's before I told everyone!

I will get the 'Claim CPD' feature working on iphones soon (it'll be next week).

Hi Ruths, at the moment, only works on tablets and desktops.

I'm actually looking at making the whole site responsive (ie reformatted to look different on a mobile phone), but I am in two minds as to how far to go with it. I mean, I'm not sure many people would be contributing to forum discussions from a tiny mobile screen when out and about? But maybe I'm wrong. I really need to know from all of you what sorts of information on VetSurgeon you are most likely to access from a mobile.

But not yet! I've still got a pile of other stuff to finish (and pay for!) before I start on the mobile version of the site.

So, the suspense is killing me. Who is going to be the first to record some CPD time for a forum discussion, a news post, a gallery entry or a CPD event?

I'd be really keen to hear whether you approve of the way the whole thing works, including how you enter the information, how it is displayed, and how we present the Certificate / appendix in your VetSurgeon profile.

PS, I signed the certificate, but only because that's what people seem to do with certificates. More of a design thing, I suppose. But I drew the line at adding my name in typing beneath, because I thought it smacked of: Who the bloody hell does he think he is? Governor-of-the-bleeding-Bank-of-England-or-summink?
