A newbie who didn't know it was your forum or you were moderating would take a while to realise. Not being one of us as in not being a vet does give a refreshing perspective though and helps keep our feet on the ground. Best of both worlds in most respects.

Do you know, I think one of the reasons it works so well is precisely because I'm NOT actually one of you!! Means I don't have any axe to grind about anything (well, not relating to the veterinary world, anyway) and I'm not answerable to anyone but myself and all of you. I'm driven by one thing only, which is the success of this place (which I measure largely by the number of helpful posts made by all of you).

A few! But I suppose the exciting thing for me about this research is finding VetSurgeon up alongside the old, established titles, which I think is a sign that VetSurgeon.org is being recognised for all the other things we provide, too (ie news, jobs, cpd etc).

I think one reason that this works so well is that you are 'one of us' not just some moderator that appears occasionally when we've been very naughty and there is a great sense of community. As on all forums there is a hard core of those who have an opinion on everything and are not scared to express it with too much time on their hands but also many more who make invaluable contributions and keep us mouthy ones in check.

Genuinely, no false modesty going on! I was genuinely taken aback by the fact that we ranked so highly amongst all media (particularly in an unprompted answer to the question 'which media do you follow?', which would give the incumbents, with the brand awareness they've built up over decades, something of an advantage).

I am not surprised either! Well done!

I am inundated with magazines and periodicals that all need to be scanned at least for that little gem that is in each one. Getting to be a problem and this week every one went in the bin to reduce clutter.

Where else can a vet get specialist clinical advice, discuss cases with a wide range of vets of all types and get immediate support in a crisis? Obviously have a good whinge about the ups and downs of veterinary life.

Might be my imagination but has the site become a little less adversarial recently? Certainly lack of spell checker has improved my spelling!!

Well Arlo, modesty aside, I'm surprised that you're surprised. We didn't need a survey to tell us that this is the best veterinary forum by a country mile, we all knew it already and I'd put you ahead of Vet Times in terms of presentation and practical usability.. Nonetheless congrats and it is no doubt down to the user friendly interface as well as your liberal stewardship that gives us lot of rope but not quite enough to hang ourselves.
