Up to now we've used plug in noisy clippers (the kind where cats jump off the table when you switch them on!) but we want something cordless, nice and quiet

RE: Please can we have some clipper recommendations?

Thanks everyone, I've passed on the recommendations.

RE: Please can we have some clipper recommendations?
Main problem is it getting used on everything else
Too true - people hammering the quiet mini-clippers dematting a huge rough haired dog... I think they're the same people trimming toenails with the ophthalmic scissors!

RE: Please can we have some clipper recommendations?

we love our exacta aesculap - eickenmeyer stock. cat jugulars etc great. Original blade lasted about a year but can get replacements.

Corded - we replaced our old Oster A5s with some Andis AGC ones; quiet, take standard blades, but already been back to be fixed twice (is it a wider problem for just a dodgy item we got?).

RE: Please can we have some clipper recommendations?

We are about to move over to the Heiniger Saphir cordless. Amazing little things. Light, quiet, but will stand a drop and are powerful enough to clip a cow for a caesarian!

I can get them cheaper than that!

RE: Please can we have some clipper recommendations?

We have the small and large Aesculap clippers for clipping conscious patients. Small ones are not that robust but are really nice to use. Larger ones are tougher but not quite such a close shave.

Cheaper rechargeables have fallen by the wayside. Either too noisy or poor quality.

Still use the mains ones for surgical preparation because more blade options and easier cleaning.

Despite their lack of strength the tiny Aesculap ones are the clippers we would hate to be without most!
