OK, I have just used the quote button using exactly the same setup as you, and it has worked.

This suggests that it's a caching issue, and some of the site files have not yet updated on some people's computers. The problem should self-resolve.

Uploading images is now fixed, but I have noticed another small quirk, which is that if you quote TWICE in the same reply, it positions the second quote in the wrong place. I've spoken to techies about that, and it is going to take a little while to fix.

Meantime, they are working on ironing out a couple of other issues.

Smileys are there, but not yet fully configured. I'm working on that.

At the moment, you just need to wave your mouse over the far right hand side of the menu above the text entry box to reveal the hidden emoticons, which currently only has one in there, but the rest will be coming soon.

Completely perplexed about the problem you are having quoting from a post.

I can reply without quoting that's not an issue. At least it hasn't underlined the misspelt words this time, although it doesn't like the word misspelt unless I've misspelled it! American spellchecker maybe? Damn no smiley's either. :-)

Hmm - working fine for me again. This is frustrating, because I can't think why it isn't working on your system. Could be a caching issue. Press Ctrl Refresh when you have a reply page open, before typing reply, and see if that makes any difference.

I've been on another forum and everything works well there.

Next problem, if I want to reply to a thread with a quote by highlighting some text it won't let me paste it, then if I then proceed to try and reply without a pasted quote it wont submit and says the quote marks are incorrect.

The spellchecker works its just when I manually correct the underline doesn't disappear and when I right click spellchecker gives me some odd incorrect choices. It has also highlighted the word 'incorrect' in the previous sentence and replaced it with 'iincorrect' which I then have to manually correct but it remains underlined! Backspace and delete buttons are not working correctly either. I've got to go and do some work now but I'll go on another forum just to check its not my computer. Weird though as it is intermittent.

As regards spellcheck, I've never been 100% clear which spellcheck everyone is using - I think some are browser specific. But I just right-clicked over a red underlined word in Chrome and it replaced a duff word with the correct spelling and removed the underline. I need to figure out why it's not doing that for you!

I would upload a screengrab to show what I am seeing, but the upload image facility is not yet working (we're working on that).

The function that allowed us to highlight then press quote to paste into a reply isn't working now! Spellcheck works but won't remove the red underline when a word has been corrected manually and gives weird (incorrect)alternative choices..

Think the spellcheck should now be working again, plus lots of other improvements / enhancements, which I'll be announcing imminently (just working on a few glitches).

OK, text-to-smiley back, although (because I am over 40), looks like I need to configure :S and :D. First i need to check what they are supposed to convert to!

Yeah, I know!

I've decided the best way round this is to switch to a new text editor, which I have tested and which seems to work. Problem is that out of the box, it doesn't have the 'smiley' functionality. I am looking at whether I (personally) can write the code needed to enable it, as the developers are working away on other stuff at the moment.

It is possible, even with the new text editor, to type the characters for a smiley (e.g. colon right bracket), problem is that if your early onset dementia is anything like as bad as mine, I can only remember the shortcut for one smiley (colon right bracket)! :)

... except now it seems the text ones are not working.

Right click still not working properly for spell check
