My client googled "Kerry Blue enamel dysplasia" and found pictures of her dog, plus the first sentence of my post. Luckily she works with me so it wasn't too

RE: Privacy of posts/pics

Thanks Evelyn, but may be premature! Google serves stuff from lots of servers, and it is possible that whilst you're not seeing anything, others still can. Takes time for Google to promulgate the changes we've made round its servers.

But it is something I am monitoring very closely. For the time being, we've added some extra coding which tells google to stop indexing anything at all from these forums. When I am happy that the changes have taken and it has purged old content, I will then allow it back to see thread titles only.

Incidentally, the reason we allow it to see thread titles is so that if you (or non member vets) are googling a subject which we may have some information about, at least you see that there is a relevant discussion.

You can't read anything except the thread title unless you are logged in to vetsurgeon.

Good work Arlo.

RE: Privacy of posts/pics

When we relaunched the website, the developers configured the new platform incorrectly, which meant that Google was able to 'see' more of the content than in the past.

I was made aware of this a couple of weeks ago, and immediately (within hours), had the developers fix the issue.

Google is no longer able to 'see' any of the content of forum threads it visits, except for the title of the thread, as has always been the case.

However, Google had already indexed some content/images before the fix was implemented.

This means that for some of the indexed posts, a google search will return a 'snippet' of text from a post which is relevant to the search.

However, if you click the Google search result for a post it has indexed, you still need to login to be able to read any further content (this has always been the case).

I have now requested that google purges any previously indexed content from its search results, which may take a day or two.

New posts are not affected by this.

I am very sorry for the fact this has happened, rest assured I am on the case!

RE: Privacy of posts/pics

Simple answer - NOTHING on the internet is private.
