The Archers death rate is apparently (according to the BMJ) comparable to that of the UK population. However, in approx 45 years of on/off listening, it is the males who have the fatal or serious accidents and the females who tend to pull through the serious disease (notable exceptions being Grace Archer and Betty Tucker).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;So even if there was a contract on Ruth, the assassin would miss and take out a male. The tedious Tom would be great.&lt;/p&gt;
