... been a bit quiet in the forums today!

Anyway, behind the scenes, I've got the first three galleries setup in the new format: Cardiology, Exotics and Orthopaedics. Parasitology is not far behind, and I am working away on finding curators for the other suggestions that have been made.

Just to keep you all updated, I've made a start on this. Just setting things up in such a way that the curator for each gallery can categorise submissions quickly and easily. Bummer is that this means I have to go and remove all of the existing images in the galleries and reupload them in a different way. More news when that's done.

Similar ideas I would say. Decent pathology pictures. Parasites. Sperm morphology?

I don't know whether it is worth it on the large animal side. Farm vets don't seem to engage particularly well online (that I have found). The BCVA forum is dead. A single farm section to dump stuff in may be worthwhile. I have a chunk of post mortem pictures on my phone I could upload.

On the large animals side, I'm just starting doing our own WEC's, so particularly ovine and equine egg identification would be useful. Don't know if perhaps a "how to.." section could run along side for simple procedures like worm egg counts, smears, sperm assessment etc?

That does sound better. The perspective of specialists does vary - some (particularly in the universities) can be so removed from general practice that what interests them (some once in a lifetime odd condition) is much less interesting than the stuff seen at the coalface day in, day out.

Haematology smears

Often useful, IDEXX do a chart I believe

References such has number of platelets per high magnification field constitute normal

A reference library would be really useful. case of not what you know, but where to find the answer

Endoscopy (GIoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, cystoscopy etc.....) images/videos are often popular on other sites I use.

Yup, using the anon account. Though I think I'd discourage that except in exceptional circumstances. I mean, I don't think it's very rewarding for a curator to be commenting on anonymous stuff.

I suppose my thinking was that over time it should build into a reference library, so what I really meant is that we probably wouldn't want it to contain too many pictures of the same thing. So by interesting, I just meant not already too many pictures of the same thing already. Plus, the point of curatorship is to ensure quality.

My pet subject! And I've got a few images already, amassed from when I worked for Novartis. Suppose I'd better go and check with Elanco that they would be happy for me to share them, as I guess they now own the rights.

Yes urine cytology reference images would be great!

Parasitology images would also be really helpful for me - worms eggs, coccidia, mites. I had an excellent reference in Urquhart's Veterinary Parasitology but it has gone missing and I think it's out of print now :(
