&lt;p&gt;They gave the dog away. It&amp;#39;s none of their business.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If we know they gave the dog away 6yrs ago then I&amp;#39;d suggest what is registered on the database with petlog is not relevant with respect to ownership. &lt;p&gt;1. Microchip owners (gave puppy away when 6-12m old) wanted to refer, and claimed had money to do so.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2. Owners for last 6y didn&amp;#39;t want to refer.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As only g1 IVDD, conservative mx was a reasonable option.&lt;/p&gt;

The current owner is just that. If there is then a dispute who is the actual owner its hardly your problem it&amp;#39;s their collective problem if they can&amp;#39;t agree.
