I stopped using the Penzance Tesco when they took Vegemite off the shelf and replaced it with Tesco Own Brand Yeast Extract!

Good for you. I've refused to use Tesco for years because of their filthy commercial tactics, and also because the stores are just so horrible.

I think their recent losses are, however, probably less to do with Wynne's boycott and more to do with Aldi and Lidl undercutting them. Tee hee.

Bet that will give Tesco a well-deserved fright. I've used them a lot less since the horsemeat scandal - which I considered utterly revolting. Their profits have slumped since then, which (I hope) means that the silent majority of the public are equally revolted

Right, I have contacted the Financial Ombudsman, and their adviser on the phone was puzzled too by the situation.

He wasn't sure why Tesco Bank would refuse to accept the No Claim Bonus from my company car years of driving.

So I have put a formal complaint through the Financial Ombudsman and we shall see what their reply will be.

If nothing moves I will contact other insurer to see if they will accept the No Claim Bonus, I certainly don't want to loose them because of Tesco.

Meantime I have stopped all my shopping at Tesco. Oh well surely they won't notice, but it makes me feel better as sign of protest.

I agree with all of the advice given above. Car insurers are normally desperate for your custom!

You could also contact The Guardian Saturday section on consumer problems. They give good advice and often when they contact the companies which cause a problem it is quickly solved!

Insurance quotes will show up as logged by credit rating agencies. This is to mainly to reduce fraud. It is logged as an insurance quotation and will have no impact on your credit score. These generally remain on your personal file and not the one lenders see.

If you check your credit score you will find it littered with enquiries of this type. Repeated applications for loans and or credit cards may to be seen as a bit of a red flag. It is normal to get a number of insurance quotes!

I agree, try a dirty negotiation let them know you're looking for some other provider and try to get a quote from them (beware they may affect you credit score for a mortgage in future) so that they know you mean it. They might get back to you with a better offer. You can probably find some help as well at your local citizen advice bureau (be ready to queue for a while).

I find it strange that this issues with No Claim Discount doesn't seem to be regulated or at least I can't find any reference to a law or the like.

I agree - warn them that you are looking elsewhere! Perhaps ask which insurer the previous practice used and try them! They will have a record of you plus get the Argos no claims letter.

Car insurers have a lot of discretion with introductory offers/NCD as they are pretty meaningless nowadays. You have an accident, they bump up your premiums the next year but you 'retain' your NCD!

You might just find that Tesco make you an offer!

go to another insurer.

Get a written declaration from the practice that you used the vehicles for x years without accident, add last years insurance and claim the lot.

Find Aviva to be a helpful lot.
