I have been working full time in clinical practice for the last 10 years.
Leaving can always be appropriate; we are hard taskmasters of ourselves and it's difficult to forgive ourselves for trying to save our own lives.

RE: Advice needed please, moving out of clinical practice
Is it difficult to move into an industrial role such as technical advice without any previous experience?
This is a rhetorical question in the end because all jobs, clinical practice, technical posts, academe, journalism, whatever, have issues.

Have your medical advisors nailed down clinical practice as the pernicious influence on your condition? If so, then leaving is appropriate, but if it is something more generic then something else may need thinking about.

There is no failure in self preservation, but there could be in swapping one set of pressures for another.
